About The Designer
Farah El Ashiry ~ aka FUFA
10 years old
Fufa's creative exploration started early on at the age of 10, when she reused old clothes to make new stylish pieces to wear.

Education & fashion journey
When she got older, she sought her dream and studied Marketing at the American University in Cairo (AUC) taking all her classes in the morning just so she could rush to theItalian Fashion Academy in the afternoon, in which she got a diploma in Fashion Design and Pattern Making.

Foundation of BENT AL_BALAD
But her dual studies didn't keep her from starting an oriental Egyptian brand during her first year at AUC. She named it 'BENT AL-BALAD' (meaning a local girl), and made oriental cushions and Bedouin inspired skirts selling them in markets.

Customizing Dresses “PetiteBourgeoisie”
She began customizing glamorous evening dresses in college and planned to launch her own fancy wear line, PetiteBourgeoisie. But a month before the launch, her grandmother inspired a change of direction—revealing a cupboard filled with mesmerizing prints.

FUFA’s Family
Fufa’s grandparents were a big inspiration, her grandmother’s Asian fabrics, which sparked her first beachwear line & her grandfather’s passion for Egypt, which fueled her destination-themed collections. He often reminded her, “Egypt is full of culture and crafts, some undiscovered, others long forgotten.”
With that, Fufa began her journey...
